Sri Basaveshwara Medical College and Hospital is the only private medical institute in the district of Chitradurga, that has been imparting advanced medical education since its inception in 2001. The medical college is popularly known as BMCH, Chitradurga. The sole motto of the establishment of BMCH, Chitradurga is to reach to the unreached in the backward region of Karnataka.

Basaveshwara Medical College was established in 2001 by SJM Vidyapeetha. The parent organization is a private, unaided and charitable trust. For MD/MS Aspirants:

• Candidates must have passed MBBS from a recognized University by the NMC.

• Candidates need to have completed 1 Year of mandatory Internship on or before 31st of March in the same year of applying.

• Candidates need to produce permanent/provisional registration provided by the NMC (Earlier MCI) or the respective state medical council.

• Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 50 percentile in NEET-PG for General Category and for reserved category, the requirement is 40 percentile in the same.

All the admissions to any of the UG and PG Courses are strictly based on merit gained in the All India Entrance Exam i.e. NEET-UG and NEET-PG for Postgraduate courses. BMCH, Chitradurga offers MD and MS Courses in several clinical and para-clinical specializations, recognized by NMC, New Delhi. 

Students who wish to take admission in this college, need to obtain the required percentile in NEET followed by the counseling conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority, Bangalore. For All India Quota seats, students need to participate in the counseling conducted by the same. Being one of the Premier Medical Colleges in Karnataka, Sri Basaveshwara Medical College & Hospital, Chitradurga offers Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery. The college offers an MBBS Program that carries a duration of 4.5 years of Academic Course and 1 year of Mandatory Internship. The entire duration of the course is 5.5 years. 

Aspirants seeking admission to BMCH, Chitradurga need to qualify for NEET-UG. Candidates are required to go through a centralized Counselling process conducted by KEA, Bangalore. 

All rounds of Counselling are held online.
