Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute located at Kelambakkam in the district of Chengalpattu, Chennai is one of the most reputed Health Sciences’ Institutes in the state of Tamilnadu. The Medical College is popularly known as CHRI, Chennai. It was established in 2006 and since the inception of this college.

It became a constituent unit of Chettinad Academy of Research & Education, which has been recognized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India and conferred upon the Deemed status in 2008 by the UGC, New Delhi under the UGC Act, 1956. CARE has also been accredited with Grade ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC.

All the admissions to any of the UG and PG Courses in Chettinad Hospital & Research Institute, Chennai are strictly based on merit gained in the All India Entrance Exam i.e. NEET-UG and NEET-PG for Postgraduate courses. Candidates seeking admission in Super Speciality Courses need to qualify NEET-SS conducted by NBE i.e. National Board of Examinations.
