Kasturba Medical College, popularly known as KMC, Manipal is one of the Top Medical Institutes in Karnataka. The college has got its Deemed status from the UGC, New Delhi. The college has been imparting quality medical education since its establishment. Because of its world-class medical programs, students across 44 countries have visited this college to pursue medical programs at UG and PG levels. Kasturba Medical College, Manipal was one of the first private medical colleges in India established in 1953. The college has also got recognition and has been earning accolades from numerous foreign establishments like the General Medical Council of Great Britain and Malaysian Medical Council. Apart from these, the college is also recognized by the Australian Medical Council. All the courses offered from KMC, Manipal are approved by the National Medical Commission, New Delhi. The college has been situated in the vast campus of Manipal University that lies over the area of 600 acres. In the beginning years, the college provided only pre-clinical courses, and then in 1969, Medical College introduced a clinical program & became a full-fledged independent college. It got recognition in 1958 by the Medical Council of India & in 2008 it turned into a deemed college and granted by UGC, Government of India. KMC, Manipal has bagged the 9th position in the top 10 Medical Institutes of the country according to NIRF 2020.
