Subbaiah Institute of Medical Sciences

Subbaiah Institute of Medical Sciences is a newly established private medical college. The medical college is popularly known as Subbaiah Medical College and abbreviated as SMC, Shimoga. Subbaiah Medical College was established in 2012 and has been an integral unit of Tadikela Subbaiah Trust. The parent organization is a Private, Unaided, and Charitable Trust that has been doing exemplary work in the field of medical education. SMC, Shimoga is precisely located in the Shimoga district of Karnataka.

The campus of SMC, Shimoga is widely spread over a 32 acres campus full of lush greenery and reflects a picturesque view. Reputed for its high-quality medical education and advanced practical learning facilities, students from across India and Overseas gravitate to the college. SMC, Shimoga offers courses leading to Medical, Nursing, and Dental degrees.

As far as affiliation is concerned, Subbaiah Medical College is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, and recognized by National Medical Commission (Earlier MCI), New Delhi. SMC, Shimoga is well approved to carry out imparting medical education at UG level by MoHFW, Govt. of India.

All admissions to SMC, Shimoga can only be secured through the All India Entrance Exam i.e. NEET. As far as Clinical training imparted to the students and interns is concerned, SMC, Shimoga is housed in several buildings. The institute owns 1100 bedded multispecialty tertiary care teaching hospital and other ancillary medical amenities, as stipulated by NMC, New Delhi.
