Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT Pune) was established in 1983. VIT Pune is an autonomous institution affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. VIT Pune is run by the Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust, Pune. The institute is spread over a campus size of 18 acres. VIT Pune has a total faculty of 242 members. The college offers a total of 25 courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The streams in which these engineering courses are offered are- Chemical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial & Production Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. VIT Pune offers a variety of facilities and infrastructure to its students. The institute offers scholarships to meritorious and needy students. The college also provides placement opportunities to students. As per the NIRF ranking 2021, VIT Pune has been ranked 122 among engineering institutions with an overall score of 36.82. This ranking is based on various parameters such as graduation outcomes, teaching, learning, and resources, perception, outreach and inclusivity, research and professional practice. 

The vision of the institute is to become a worldwide recognised institute for technical education and research that promotes holistic socio-economic development. The mission of VIT Pune is to ensure that all students are employable and work in industries, higher education, become entrepreneurs, or get civil/defense services/government jobs, and other fields such as sports and theatre. 

VIT Pune Location

The institute is located at 666, Upper Indira Nagar, Bibwewadi, Pune, Maharashtra. The Pune International Airport is located at a distance of approxiamately 17 kms from the campus. The Pune Junction Railway Station is located at a distance of 9.3 kms away from the campus. Students can easily reach the campus from the airport and the railway station by booking a cab or a taxi. The nearest bus stop is VIT College Bus Stop, located just 450 metres away from the campus.

The institution offers a wide range of facilities and infrastructure to its students. VIT Pune facilities includes individual hostels for boys and girls, indoor games room, outdoor sports field and modern gymnasium for the physical and mental well-being of the students. The campus also has a well-equipped library with a variety of books, encyclopedias, e-books, national and international journals. VIT Pune facilities also include spacious auditoriums for conducting a variety of events and seminars, a well-equipped cafeteria, medical room for the emergency purpose of teachers and students. VIT Pune Admissions

The institution offers admissions at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. VIT Pune admissions to undergraduate courses are offered on the basis of marks obtained in Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) or ranks secured in Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE Main), followed by state level counselling. VIT Pune admissions for the postgraduate courses is based on the marks obtained in Graduate Aptitude Tests in Engineering (GATE), followed by state level counselling. VIT Pune admissions to doctoral programs are based on the entrance examination conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University. The admission procedure for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels are given below.

Vishwakarma Institute of Technology Admission Procedure for B. Tech Courses

• Maharashtra based candidates must appear for MH CET entrance exam.

• Other state candidates may appear for the JEE Main/ MH CET entrance exam.

• Candidates having valid JEE Main scorecard will be given preference.

• Appear for the state level counselling and choose VIT Pune as preferred choice.

• Verify documents at designated centres.

• During counselling, candidates are allotted the streams based on the rank obtained in JEE Main/ MH CET entrance exam.

• Lock choice of stream in designated college or upgrade it in upcoming counselling rounds.

• Report to the allotted institute and complete the admission procedure and pay the admission fees for final admission. 

VIT Pune Admission Procedure for M.C.A. Courses

• Appear for MAH MCA CET entrance exam.

• Register and appear for the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) conducted by State CET Cell.

• Admissions are offered through the CAP based on rank obtained in MAH MCA CET entrance exam.

• Appear for the GATE entrance exam and have a valid score.

• Register and appear for the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) conducted by State CET Cell.

• Admissions are offered through the CAP based on rank obtained in the GATE entrance exam. 

VIT Pune Admission Procedure to Doctoral Courses

• Appear for an entrance examination conducted by the Savitribai Phule Pune University.

• After qualifying the entrance examination, appear for a personal interview at the university.

• Merit list is prepared based on the candidate's performance in the personal interview.

• Eligible candidates verify the documents and pay the admission fee for final admissions.

VIT Pune Cut Off

The institution releases a cut off every year for admission to its undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. VIT Pune cut off for the undergraduate course is based on the marks obtained in Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) or ranks secured in Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main). VIT Pune cut off for the postgraduate course is based on the marks obtained in Graduate Aptitude Tests in Engineering (GATE).

The institution has a well-established placement cell and it assists students with career related job opportunities. The placement cell instructs students on a variety of areas, including numerical aptitude, verbal ability, logical thinking, essay writing, resume preparation, and mock interviews. VIT Pune placement cell invites guest lecturers from the industry to share their knowledge with the students on a regular basis. 141 companies visited the campus during the academic session of 2019-20. The highest package offered to students in the academic session of 2019-20 was Rs 26,40,000 lakhs per annum and the median package was around Rs 6,68,000 lakhs per annum.
