Admission in Masters of Surgery is based on the entrance test and candidate’s last obtained marks in MBBS along with an one-year Internship. As per the regulations of Medical Council of India (MCI), as laid out in Postgraduate regulations 2000 of Medical Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the entrance test for eligibility for admission to Postgraduate courses shall be 50 % for all candidates and for SC, ST, category-I & OBC the eligibility will be 40%.
Indian nationals holding PIO/OCI cards are eligible for securing admissions under the General category. Foreign nationals comprising OCI/ PIO cards, supported by their parents, guardian or siblings having NRI status can apply for seats under the NRI category.

They must have completed one year of mandatory rotatory internship to be eligible for a Masters of Surgery (General Surgery) course.
- The candidate must also be registered with MCI or any state medical council.
- Candidates must have to qualify Intermediate examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics as their main subjects. Intermediate students have to pass the MBBS degree from a recognized university with 50+ aggregate.
