NEET UG Exam Pattern 2025: The NTA will announce the NEET 2025 exam pattern along with the information bulletin. Medical aspirants seeking MBBS and BDS seats must familiarize themselves with the NEET UG 2025 exam pattern. The exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode, lasting 3 hours and 20 minutes. According to the NEET UG exam pattern, the paper will be divided into two sections: Section A and Section B. Section A will consist of 35 questions, while Section B will include 15 questions, of which candidates must answer 10.

NEET Exam Pattern 2025

Candidates can refer to the table below for section-wise NEET UG 2025 marks distribution and total marks. The new NEET 2025 pattern retains the same marking scheme and question types.

NEET UG Question Paper Pattern

The Questions in the NEET UG exam pattern will be divided into two different sections – Section A and Section B. There will be 35 questions in section A, and all these questions are compulsory. While 15 questions are included in section B, Candidates need to answer any 10 questions out of these. Candidates who want to pursue MBBS or other medical courses must be prepared for the NEET UG exam.

NEET Marking Scheme

The important points to note:
I. Each question carries 04 (four) marks and, for each correct answer candidate will get 04 (four) marks.
II. For each incorrect answer, 01(one) mark will be deducted from the total score.
III. To answer a question, the candidate has to find, for each question, the correct answer/ best option.
IV. However, after the process of the challenge of key, if more than one option is found to be correct, then all/any one of the multiple correct/best options marked will be given four marks (+4).
If a question is dropped/ ignored, all candidates will be given four marks (+4) irrespective of whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.
* Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
* Unanswered/Unattempted questions will be given no marks.

Guidelines for choosing the language

It has to be remembered that candidates’ regional language choices will depend upon the NEET UG exam centre’s location. The details of the availability and choice of regional languages the in NEET UG exam are as follows. Candidates can opt for a Question Paper in any one of the following 13 languages:

  • The option of the medium of Question Paper should be carefully chosen while filling in the Application Form. The option once chosen cannot be changed.
  • Candidates opting for English would be provided a Test Booklet in English only.
  • Candidates opting for Hindi would be provided with a Bilingual Test Booklet in English and Hindi.
  • Candidates opting for regional languages would also be provided with a Bilingual Test Booklet in selected Regional languages and English.
  • In case of any ambiguity in the translation of a question in the test, its English version shall be treated as final and the decision of NTA shall be final in this regard.

Regional Languages available for NEET UG

Candidates qualifying for NEET (UG) would be eligible for All India Quota and other quotas under the State Governments/Institutes, irrespective of the medium of the examination, subject to other eligibility criteria.

How to calculate the NEET UG score after the exam?

Applicants can use the below-mentioned formula and calculate their expected score, as per their attempt in the examination after the NEET UG answer key. According to the NEET marking scheme, candidates can calculate the expected score even before releasing the result and predicting their medical college.

Formula to calculate NEET score:
NEET Score = (Correct answers X 4) – (Incorrect answers X 1)
